This build has been inspired by the thick-soled crepe boots worn by the British military during the 1945 North African campaign - the large rubber soles helped with navigating the uneasy desert terrain. When soldiers returned from operations, they were often seen wearing these boots in and around notorious parts of Soho and Kings Cross, which earned them the label "creepers".
